Within this menu topic choices can be created which abstracts can then be grouped under. Submitters
will be able to select the topic area which best fits their abstract submission. Searches and sort’s can
then be performed by topic to act as a way of filtering information.
Abstract Topics field is used for:
- Abstract Topics
- Submission Categories
- Themes
- Tracks
- Strands
IMPORTANT - Abstract topics are the link/marriage between the reviewing. When reviewers are assigned or chosen their "Abstract topics" as their expertise, "Assign Abstract - Bulk" can be used for automatic allocation.
Creating new topic:
In abstractlogic 'View Abstracts' screen, select Topics filter, ---Create New--- Please see this screenshot.
- Topic id* - specify the number topic code
- Name* - specify a name for the topic. Will appear on the form for topic selection
- (Optional) Allow free text - activates a box for free text input after topic selection
- (Optional) Hint for free text - specify instruction text. Will appear after free text input box
- (Optional) Show only in topic group - only if you have 2 or 3 level for topic group & sub-topic relationship
Configuring the topics to appear on the form:
1.02 Abstract Settings -> 'Topics' tab:
- Number of topics - usually between 1 and up to 3 topics
- Require Topics - Yes - it is a good practise to make the topics required. It makes topic mandatory question for submitters
- Caption topics - will appear at the top of topic selection section. The commonly used captions are:
- Theme
- Category
- Topic
- Info topics - a friendly html area to describe the topic dropdown (e.g. 'Please select the topic area that best fits the material within your abstract.')
- Caption for each topic - will appear next to the topic selection box
- Order By Topics Id - If set to "Yes", will sort the topics dropdown by topic Id. Default order is by Topic Name A-Z.
- Caption Topic Groups - if you are using 2 or 3 levels to group topics, this is where you will define the Topic Group name
- Caption for each topic group - will appear next to the topic group selection box
