This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to connect and synchronise your event website (sessions, speakers, authors, participants, and abstracts) from Abstractlogic to your WordPress website.
1. How to Configure the Plugin in WordPress
Before running a synchronisation, the Synclogic plugin must be set up on your WordPress site.
Step 1: Access the Synclogic Menu
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
- In the left-hand sidebar, locate and click on Synclogic (look for the circular arrows icon ).
Step 2: Enter Your Credentials
In the Configuration Settings card, complete the following fields:
- API Key: Paste the API key provided by Shocklogic. This key authorises the website to access your event data.
- Remote Sync Secret: This is a shared password used to connect Shocklogic with WordPress securely.
- Tip: Click the Eye icon inside the field to show or hide the secret.
- Tip: Click the Copy button (clipboard icon) next to the input to copy the secret directly to your clipboard.
Click Save Settings.
2. How to Configure the Connection in Shocklogic
To trigger and monitor the synchronisation directly from the Abstractlogic dashboard, you must link it to your site.
Step 1: Access the Synclogic Panel in Shocklogic
- Log in to your Abstractlogic system .
In the top navigation, go to: Process Menu > Programme > VL - Programme Sync.
Step 2: Set Up the Connection
In the Site Connection card, enter your website details:
- Site URL: Enter the full URL of your WordPress site (e.g.
https://sites.shocklogic.com/your-project). Do not include a slash (/) at the end. - Remote Sync Secret: Paste the exact Remote Sync Secret that you copied from WordPress.
Click Save.
3. How to Run the Synchronisation
You can start the synchronisation now.
Running the Sync
This is the easiest way to update your site without leaving the Shocklogic portal.
- Under the Data Synchronisation panel, click Start Synchronisation.
- The button will change to "Synchronising..." and the progress area will appear.
- Monitor the Progress:
- You will see the current step (e.g. Step 3 / 7), the progress bar, and status messages (e.g. Processing programme sessions and presentations...).
- Once complete, a green Synchronisation Complete banner will display a summary grid showing the total count of items updated on your website:
- Sessions
- Speakers
- Authors
- Participants
- Abstracts
Updated
4. Troubleshooting Common Issues
A. The Synchronisation is Stuck or Blocked
- Why it happens: The system locks the synchronisation process to prevent conflicts if multiple users try to sync at the same time. If a previous sync was closed or interrupted, this lock may remain active.
- How to fix it:
- A warning banner will appear in Shocklogic saying: "A synchronisation is currently in progress or was interrupted".
- Click the orange Force Reset & Unlock button.
- Confirm the prompt. This clears the block, and you can now click Start Synchronisation again.
B. "Authentication failed — the Remote Sync Secret is incorrect"
- How to fix it: The secrets do not match. Go back to your WordPress Synclogic settings, copy the Remote Sync Secret again using the copy button, paste it into the Remote Sync Secret field in Shocklogic, click Save, and retry the sync.
C. "Could not reach site" or "Site not found"
- How to fix it: Double-check the Site URL configured in Shocklogic. Ensure it matches your website address exactly, starts with
https://, and does not have a trailing slash (/). Ensure your website is live and loading normally.
